Easy Deep Dish Pizza Casserole

Easy Deep Dish Pizza Casserole is a quick and delicious alternative to pizza delivery, even on the busiest night of the week.
Go-to Recipes for Busy Weeknights
This is a recipe that I’ve been making for years, and it’s definitely one that has stood the test of time. My family loves it now just as much as they did back in the day when I first started making it.
It’s the kind of recipe I love having in my repertoire for a busy weeknight. It’s by no means a fancy meal, but it takes regular ingredients that are easy to keep on hand, it’s quick to make and it tastes really good.
What’s not to love about that on an average weeknight when you just want to get dinner on the table? Especially when it’s a meal your family looks forward to.
Deep Dish Pizza Casserole is a Family Favorite
So… what is this recipe of which I speak? It’s an easy deep dish pizza casserole.
It’s easy because it starts out with a crust made with crescent rolls. Then you make a quick sauce with ground beef and tomato sauce, layer it with some cheese over the crescent rolls and pop it in the oven.
Easy…right? You could make this even quicker by assembling the dish earlier in the day. Then, at dinnertime all you have to do is bake it.
The other great thing about this casserole is that it’s totally customizable. Try adding some more veggies, like green pepper and mushrooms, or add some diced pepperoni and green olives. Whatever your family likes.
Serve it with a Field Green Salad and you have a yummy, satisfying dinner!

We are big pizza lovers- and easy recipe lovers! This looks delicious! Pinning it and putting it in the arsenal!
Thanks Kathy!! 🙂
Do you drain the fat after cooking the ground beef?
I don’t drain it, Ken, because I usually use at least 90% lean ground beef, so there’s not much fat. If you use ground beef with a higher fat content, you may want to drain it.
I can’t wait to try this! Looks yummy!!!
This is a very nice recipe which I plan to prepare very soon. However, it would be very helpful if the instructions were printed directly below the ingredients, so that it wouldn’t be necessary to scroll through of all your lovely photos while cooking this dish.
Hi Lisa, This looks delicious and I think I may make this this weekend. I may add some mini pepperonis to it too. I love how you show the pictures and then put the instructions below or above it. Have a great weekend and God bless 🙂
would not let me print recipe
Very good, a soft crust being the only drawback. I needed to use up some pizza sauce & substituted it for the tomato sauce. Frankly, I think pizza sauce works better for this anyway. This can also be made even easier by using pre-cooked ham, bacon or sausage.
Amazing! So most and delicious.
Thanks.
sounds delicious! I will try for my next cards game,
Thanks.
did youn try it with a pizza crust????
Most nights I just want to get dinner on the table fast…I absolutely love this!!

This is a great idea! I think we can even divvy up the casserole into 4 areas and the kids can top it as they like and still not have to wash extra dishes! Great idea!

WOW! This would make pizza night so much easier!! It sounds amazing!!
what can I use instead of crescent rolls?
@pat lundin, I haven’t made this with anything other than crescent rolls, but I think that the canned pizza dough would work just fine. You could also try frozen pizza or bread dough, although, as I said I have not tested this myself.
Lisa
When a recipe calls for grated parmesan cheese, would it be freshly grated or the dried cheese in the container ? Have always confused me when recipes call for grated Parmesan cheese.
