Green Beans with Crispy Shallots

Green beans are always a staple on our Thanksgiving table. I’ve been making some type of green bean dish for as long as I’ve been hosting Thanksgiving dinner, which has been about 20 years now.
I usually make this recipe which is absolutely delicious, but this year I thought I’d try something else for a change. I need to keep everyone on their toes!
These green beans with crispy shallots couldn’t be easier to make and they taste fantastic. The shallots get great flavor, color and texture by cooking them in a little butter at a relatively high temperature.
Then to further enhance the flavor, I cooked the beans in a little more butter, in the same skillet. The beans get slightly charred and have a wonderful crisp-tender texture.
By covering the beans for most of the cooking, they are able to steam from their own moisture while still getting a sauteed flavor from cooking in the butter. When you toss the beans and the shallots together, you get and amazing flavor combination that your family is sure to love.
This recipe will feed 4-6 people, but it can easily be doubled or even tripled.
